Artist Statement

Since realizing I had some drawing skills as a child, I knew my life's work would have to include art in some way. But it wasn't until I started painting as an adult, that I knew I could use it to communicate the human spirit. Art is not just something I do, it is who I am, and part of my identity. Painting has given me an energy and purpose to life.

I believe there is a loneliness that comes with being human. For me art has been a way of surviving in the world, and made being alone not so lonely. And for an artist there is even more time needed to be introspective. It is essential to our practice, to create and communicate our ideas. When I realized this about myself, I started taking an interest in exploring the ideas and feelings we all have with being on our own and in our own thoughts. I aspire to connect to my audience through my art, in hopes of promoting how we are all more alike than we are different.
